mike's spacejust another corner of the world aye. 17 October I lol'dpete told me to do an update, something random. so here it is.
Why are there no mexicans on Star Trek?
They don't work in the future either.
I lol'd. See below
11 September the problem with doing a massive updateis the next one looks really small...
i don't think i could really do another blog that rates up with that one for quite some time, i mean that was like 7 weeks of touring the world...leaving bits and pieces out of it. so i won't attempt, but it's quite clear i can write an arm and a leg and the rest of the body to go with it.
so what's up... hrmz went to the gold coast for like, 4/5 days to do WCG. was a pretty good weekend which was reasonably sucessful and although i worked an incredibly long weekend - much fun was had. some poker, some beveraging...all very good. had a fun w/e definately altho didnt get to hang out with some people as much as i would have liked, cant have everything.
the scav hunt happened today and it was lots of fun. some hilarious videos which i hopefully should have up shortly for gym ppls : ))
in other news...stuff and things - more to come on that front. :)
28 August stuff...soooo stuff has been happening as of late. i'll start with sat night's proceedings at zacs. was quite an excellent night, happy bday to the big man himself! you seemed to be having an awesome time :D
it was good to see everyone out, jac/beth/tahn/ben/richo/alana/matt/bec/tarryn/kat/emz/pete and emma! (one of my coaches from many years ago now, who also happens to be zac's sister.)
so yeah, had a good night even if we had an extended trip home thanks to some shall i say, overkeen performances from some lady friends who happened to be travelling home with captain pete and steward uhhh steward. HEHEHHEE. overall a great night :D
breaking news: 2 fish were in a tank, one of them turns to the other and says 'hey i hope you know how to drive this thing'
moving on to more what's been happening as of late since i got back. well not a lot really - just trying to get back into the swing of things except WCG is on this next weekend so i've been quiiiiiite busy doing bits and pieces for that everywhere and the site so ya. it's good to be back up at gym too with all those cool kids and that~.
take this opportunity to say a hi to tori. hi tori. and also a hi to monica. hi mon. also a hi to tahn. hi tahnee. also a hi to rach. hi rach. also a hi to leah. hi leah. and since im going thru girls a big hi to david. hi dave.
all in all, hi to everybody really...even though i see you guys heaps :P
MOVING ON!
fri night was pretty cool too, went along with jac to a battle of the bands in clayton where there were a whole bunch of emos who i wanted to punch in the face but more importantly, ben/nick/richo's band and milli's band were playing! we got there in the middle of milli's first song i think, and she was rocking away on stage and they were reallllly good. honestly like, i enjoyed them quite a lot. which is odd cause im not really a fan of that sort of music. then there were a bunch of shitty bands which i didnt like and then ben/nick/richo's band came on. whilst they didnt have a great night, they're pretty damn good as well.
but neither of them had success in the competition which is bs as they were clearly better than the rest.
wooooooo, so that was fri nite. tori/leah u guys owe me one for the lifts! ; p
so anyho, wed i leave for the gold coast to do the event in all it's glory which should be quite a lot of work but it's always a blast anyway. good to hang out with the esma crew, rob/matt/dave/mike joined up with the team from bris - karl/jason/nick and introducing special guest lexicon and dave the feeble one. should be a tough but great weekend. i guess i'll get a blog done after it as well.
So the trip! i should probably do a bit on that whole thing. you know, those 7-8 weeks i was overseas having the time of my life :P
alright so first was sweden, pretty sure i managed a blog on that from stockholm whilst i was there so i wont go on too much about it. other than it's an amazing city and the people are super friendly and i'd love to go back there one day. really enjoyed my time there.
then was paris, and from the pics you can see i got to the eiffel tower & the arc de triumph, which are both amazing structures. it's really weird, like you KNOW the effiel tower is massive but it's something entirely different to actually take it all in when your there. the views are just incredible and it's really awesome stuff. we also hit up la louvre on the sunday, which randomly was the first sunday of the month and had free admittance.
ok so the lourve deserves it's own paragraph, thats for sure. first of all, you walk into the courtyard and its HUUUUUUUGE. seriously massive. and the building is awesome even to look at on the outside. you'll see an odd looking triangular type structure in one of the photos, that's the entrance to it. you go in and down into a huge lobby which has like a whole bunch of corridors leading off to different places. the place is huge, like...its really, really, really, really big. i mean, we walked like 500 metres getting to the mona lisa, and most of the way the hallways were littered with incredible paintings. saw i got to see the mona lisa. then we walked around a lot just everywhere, there's so much incredible art in there. im not an art fan, but the place is so overwhelming with history and artisticness, you can't help but be fascinated. we also saw venus de milo, louis the 15th's crown jewels (bling bling!), napoleon's apartments (even more bling bling) to name a few other things. but everywhere you walk there are amazing paintings, sculptures and all sorts of antiques as well. it's a simply amazing place.
the event i was at to do work at was awesome as well, but like it's really nowhere near the scale of everything else in paris. memories i shall never forget, that is a definate.
dallas was next and quite simply, it was PIMPED out. we stayed at the gaylord texan resort, funny name, seriously incredibly hotel. 5 star resort, absolutely off the chain. check out the pictures - they dont really do it justice but we lived it up for a week in this place. it was amazing. the food there was huuuuuuuge and tasty, but if i start typing about it i'll be here all morning. so i'll move onto NYC as we didnt do a whole lot in dallas.
NYC is an interesting place in it's own manner. it certainly lacks the charm of every international city so it sort of seems just like a metropolis. whilst in new york i went up the empire state, which was really cool. the views werent so awesome cos of the smog but it was great nonetheless! i walked around the city a lot and went out to pacha one night to see james zabiela, who for the record is a very very very good mixer who can simply rip up a track like there's no tomorrow and barely break a sweat doing it. pacha was amazing too, they know how to do night clubs over there, thats for sure. i also got to see the statue of liberty, central park and times square so i guess i covered most bases in NYC.
england was next, i arrived in london stayed a few nights and caught up with my mum. i then went on to culceth near manchester to see my family and i spent a week with them. my family took me out to various interesting places including i think it was called the museum of film/tv which had some really cool stuff in there about the history of television. we went to a war museum in manchester as well which was good. we studied war quite a bit at school but it never ceases to astonish me in some aspects, sadly those aspects of astonishment are quite often in how cruel and sick this world and people in it can be. it was good to see things from a british perspective though.
went out to a few pubs there as well with my cousins dave/jenny which was good to catch up with them, and of course the trafford centre which is a huge shopping centre with a casino in it. HEHE.
after that week in manchester which whilst sounds quite busy it was also fairly laidback, but i guess thats just my approach. i travellled to stratford-upon-avon via train and met up with soph and we headed to global gathering. this is probably the main reason for my trip so i was very excited about it all. basically global gathering is the world's largest rave festival with a line up that if it was converted to weapons would rather be like america vs a small african country in war. thankfully the weapons were music and they were quite dangerous :P
fri arvo was arrive & set up the best tent in history, the hippy hut. it later became a landmark for all our (noisy) neighbours to find their tents by. fri night the music started and soph and i gathered our bearings and sorted out who we were going to see. we milled around for a while checking everything out and then headed to dave guetta to start our weekend of. what a choice that was. the atmosphere was electric and he threw down a punishingly awesome mix of tracks that had us dancing the whole time. now soph hadnt been to anything like this before, she'd been to concerts like reading (read; bdo out england) which have alternative acts but nothing in the EDM style. she came out and was like WOW. so did i, which if you know me....i'm quite fussy with my music :D
so dave guetta was fantastic, rocking rocking set. and then we sort of milled around got some food and then went back in for deep dish. deep dish were quite good, highlights being 'dreams' and 'say hello' but they at times failed to keep interest entirely, but i enjoyed their set nonetheless. pretty sure sharam's P.A.T.T track got a workout at some point too >_>
then it was time for one of trance's biggest names tiesto to play. i've been waiting quite some time to see tiesto as he hasnt been to australia since i've turned 18 so it was one of the bigger names for me to see. i'll say impressed greatly but it wasnt 'best set of all time'...however there's absolutely nothing like 5000+ people singing silence in a tent to tiesto. that was a special moment indeed. one of trance's great songs played by the master mixer of the track himself.
that ended our friday night, we were quite tired but to use an english word that barely gets used by the poms themselves...chuffed with it all.
so saturday was obviously the big one, with highlights between fri after tiesto and a&b on sat included me directing us to our tent in the dark....to right next to it! i also read the time within 2 minutes by using the sun, which isnt a bad skill really. HEHEHE.
so first up were above & beyond and they played a ripper vocal trance set which got me pumped for godskitchen here in october :P highlight would have to be 'alone tonight' but they played some awesome stuff i hadnt heard. definate thumbs up.
next we headed over to catch some subliminal master action with erick morillo at the beach stage. which literally had a beach there btw, it was nuts. so we danced our butts of to some kicking house music for an hour before deciding to check out marco v. thumps up for morillo too - dancing on the sand in the sun at a rave is mad fun kids, i advise to try it sometime.
MARCO V. oh my god. whilst i said dave guetta had an awesome atmosphere. we rocked up for the start of marco v and got there just in time too. marco dropped down an incredibly energetic set that had everyone jumping about like a madman (red blue purple <-- went off like a frog on pingers in a sock) and singing along (false light) and barely let up the momentum all the way through. energy from the ground was insane as well, rivalling moments like 'smells like teen spirit' at summadayze 05. :D
next we sadly caught the end of audiobullys before we saw fatboy slim.
starting off with praise you acapella before dropping into switch - a bit patchy had things rocking from the start. there were SOOOOOOOOOOO many people there it was stupid. i jumped up at one point and couldnt see where the people ended. there were tens of thousands of people there too. it was amazing. highlights included crazy (gnarls barkley), groove is in the heart, acid 8000, right here right now, exceeder (mason), SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE!, gorillaz remix~! was a rocking set thats for sure.
so we finished up there with the thousands of people and dancing in the rain on the beach to fatboy slim. really really cool moment, thats for sure! we headed then over to the godskitchen tent to catch oakenfold. he was crap, he did drop seven cities tho (solarstone) which was cool >_> and i think i heard save the last trance but his mixing was terrible with a capital shocking, so yeah.
ARMMMMMMMMIN. whilst i was lacking a bit in energy at this point, i thoroughly enjoyed armin's set. highlight of it all was him dropping 'for an angel' in pvd's absence, communication, rogue (relocate), AALTO - 5, control freak, shivers, without (prog remix), sean tyas - lift.
it was all a quality set and i really enjoyed it. we kind of milled about after that and crashed somewhere near 4am. it was an amazing festival, on the absolutely MASSIVE scale - 50,000 people attended on saturday night O_O. we slept and headed back to soph's on sunday morning.
the next 6 days were spent hanging out at soph's place watching movies n chatting. you have quite a bit to discuss when you only see each other every few years hehehe. my mum also came down on the wednesday and we both left on friday. she got to see jenny/mike (soph's parents) for the first time in 20 years which she was rather giggly about. i dont blame them, if you didnt see your best friend in 20 years you'd be a little excited to say the least.
then i spent the next few days in transit as such, and headed home. all in all it was so fantastic to travel the world again and i cant wait to head overseas again for more experiences. the world is such an interesting place an australia is only a (large) corner of it, so yeah. go overseas people, and if your going. let me know! i might come along :D
peace out, mega blog finished.
mike : ) 14 August tuneshehe, music update....
prydz vs pink floyd - proper education
phwoooar. eric prydz with the goods, the really really goods. this is huuuge.

prydz, again. he's a genius i swear.
pryda - shadows
oh look, its eric prydz...again. that eric is so hot right now, eric. haha! this is a little more chilled than his usual 'pryda' alias stuff, certainly a long shot from stuff like aftermath/the gift. very nice tune though. :)
ferry corsten - L.E.F
ferry's new style, very electro trance but its quite rocking.
marco v - red blue purple
okay so this totally isnt old, but marco dropped it @ global gathering and it went off. really really huge.
justin timberlake - sexyback (steve lawler's Seso Oscurita Mix)
i like the original, but this one you can mix. pretty true to the original - id like to see someone like trentemoller take it on though or prydz...he doesnt put many feet wrong :P
mason - exceeder
fun electro, been pretty big i believe - got hammered at global...dave guetta, fatboy slim, other people... :p
CLASSIC: Paul van Dyk - For An Angel (99 E-Werk Club Mix)
purely because armin played it in pvd's absence and everybody loved it like ice cream. hothothot. 10 August the tripi had an amazing time overseas, it was fantastic. i'll write something substantial but theres pictures up now from stockholm, paris & dallas. i will have more photos from new york & england soon!

ive done a bit of walking around the city, i took a whole bunch of photos which will i'll hopefully get up a little later n stuff.
this morning we went out down to the park near us and had a soccer match, 4vs4 with a smaller playing field. was a bit of fun & the sun was absolutely awesome. sadly this afternoon was a bit cloudly with a little bit of rain - bar that the weather has been fantastic.
oh and cause its summer, there is like no night time. deadset, you go to sleep at midnight and wake up at 5am and like its bright as. there's no darkness...pretty weird but v cool.
our hotel is like a back packers joint but its pimped out pretty hard. we've got fast internet in our room and a widescreen plasma TV. in our rooms. for ourselves. breakfast downstairs is awesome too, really fresh cold meats & other assorted things. i havent had to do too much work as of yet...still pretty jetlagged.
stockholm is such a nice clean city btw, i recommend every1 going if they get to europe - this place rocks :) 21 June in swedenhiya. long flights n stuff. like, uck. anyway got a few hours (i think) between bangkok and frankfurt.

the trip consists of
sweden -> paris -> dallas -> new york -> london -> singapore
1 week -> 1 week -> 1 week -> 10 days -> 2 weeks -> 1 week.
roughly anyhow.
so its looking pretty awesome, highlight of the trip is set to be godskitchen global gathering. i have purchased the tickets and made soph excited about it all, hopefully she can assemble a crew together for it. the weekend will be massive in the epic massiveness proportions.
so enough about what im going to do, actually not quite yet. tonight SLINKY! john '00' fleming is the main attraction, but im keen to hear what scott bond brings to the table as well. the team is rumoured to be chrisrico/cbairds/davey/snazzy & myself but with some unconfirmed appearances, we'll see what happens.
what has been happening in michael land. lots of work, went to brisbane for the w/e. that was busy, but fun. bl giraffe on the leaves thing. HEHEHE.
been to a few cool parties, tahnees, meg's going away, jac's partay last night :p, pizza & pj (ooo monica :p)
EHAEHAHEHAE.
wat else is rockiiiiiinnnnnn - world cup! i just found out i'll be on a plane in the middle of aus v brazil. sux to be me. aus v japan 2moz nite. should be alright : )))
<--- OMG NEW PICTURES :D:D
Update:
slinky was goooooood! john '00' fleming went off big time. played really good driving psy sort of stuff. his last half an hour was incredible! he played some heavy metal / psy trance track ..... was rocking. scott bond was good too, j00f took the night by faaaaaaaaar. 30 April twenty oneso was my bday yesterday (29th) and i've made it 21 years old. i made pretty stock standard time in turning 21 by doing it in 21 years but i spose its getting there that matters. i've had a few close calls to not getting to 21. first there was the whole 'ride into the back of a parked car' thing up in bright. theres also been a few times of 'omg i so nearly died then' up at gym as well (including the broken leg). so yeah, i got here and i swear my body has copped quite a bit for 21 years worth but hey...your only young once and now thats gone for me :(
so fri night was my official party and it was great! thanks to all who turned up, i had a really good nite and i hope you did as well : ) i cant believe how good the chicken was. HAHHAHA. thanks to everyone who got me a pressie, your awesome.
big thanks to everyone at gym on thurs night who threw a little party for me as well that was awesome! serz, that was great! was so suprised when tash rocked up LOL. soooo kool tho. thanks heaps to jac cos im pretty sure she did all the organising. i know you know it already, but you rock : )
so yeah, photos galore from fri in the 21st album. thanks jac for her photos as well! (shes a machine i tell you).
peace out, and GLOBAL GATHERING here we come. (when i buy tix this week sometime EHAehAHE)

2 April paul van dyk!!!!!!!!so yeah paul van dyk was last night, well like 5 hours ago really : p
he was le awesome. the night started off the crew gathered; davey, davecoke, chris and myself. hit the action plan got in there at about 12! then spent like 30 mins in the clock room line to get rid of my jacket/jumper. anyhow so we then head down to chill out listen to some tunes.
warm up djs = terrible imo.
sean quinn played some weird shit and he kept switching between like electro and prog trance and couldnt seem to decide what exactly to play. terrible.
then mark james came on went to electro town...he dropped some remix of groove is in the heart which was okay, but really these guys were not suited for a pvd warm up. just like so far from pvd's style, it was dissapointing.
so anyhow after much waiting, god graced the stage (much to the delight of everyone around me that i didnt know as well) and threw down his first track. the beats were much better already, the night was turning into goodness.
so he threw down an awesome set, not everything he played was massively well known but it didnt really matter. he really got the crowd into it with some awesome build ups and really rocked it up. he did play big tunes (of course) and they were fantastic. highlights;
dj shog - running (shog's 2 faces mix)

mike. 21 March updatehaha so its been really boring in the world of mike since the school term finished. ive done a little bit of work, lots of bumming around and mixing and thats about it really. however things will be getting busy again soon no doubt :D
kyau vs albert on friday night, they're playing a 3 hour set! muchos pumped, they've been putting down some wicked tunes in their sets of late~
roll call;
chris 'the cheekdawg' rico.
nate 'NTE' bingle.
dave 'giraffe' cokester.
davey the cat.
big jimmy logix

myself.
keen up team, should be an awesome night!
1st of april is the next BIG night, with paul van dyk set to rock the shop. its been...about 3 years since he was here last (just before my 18th it was ffs) and yeah, im pumped for it. the team for it looks to be chrisrico, davey, dave cokester and myself. smaller squad but equally as keen. mealz may also be attending but she aint sure yet :p
after that im tipping a quiet couple of weekends after that unless nte somehow swindles a couple of free tix to alex morph (cos theres no way im paying $55 to see him @ qbh. lol.). i doubt that'll eventuate so the 21st will be upon me in no time, but not before some partying the weekend before for petes. oh actually
dave has like broken his toe he thinks. i laugh. those couches. look out indeed. im sure it'll be not time before hes back (unfortunately) so we'll have a short bagging session when he gets back, followed by a couple of drinks. fire up. busy times ahead~
finally fufufu to soph reply to my email! nah your probably busy but fufuf anyway.
and im spent.
mike.
